Volunteering

At Petri's Place we are always accepting volunteers, both in person and virtual. Whether you can be onsite or remote, you can honor your love of animals and support our mission with your time.

In Person Volunteer Opportunities: 

We are located in Southeast San Antonio, Texas. 

In person duties can include:

  • Cleaning, prepping, building animal enclosures (indoors & outdoors)
  • Feeding and meal prep for animals
  • Laundry, sanctuary cleaning and organization
  • Release assistance
  • Gardening (8k sq ft wildlife garden attached to the sanctuary)

The sanctuary runs on shifts. There are morning and late afternoon shifts daily (including weekends and holidays). 

Need Community Service Hours??? We can help!

  • Students are welcome to volunteer to satisfy school credits (see age restrictions)
  • Court requirements
  • Internship requirements
  • Church/Service Project hours

Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to be unaccompanied by a parent or guardian/adult. 

Young children between 12 and 16 must be approved before signing up. One young child per adult - per day, unless in a prearranged group setting. 

No volunteer under 18 will be handling animals. This is a state and safety requirement. 

There is no photography or video of any kind allowed by volunteers.

Remote Volunteer Opportunities:

We are always in need of online assistance with awareness, fundraising and promotional support. 

Remote duties can include:

  • Promoting fundraisers, events, campaigns and/or our social media accounts
  • Collecting donations for auctions and fundraisers
  • Recruiting event sponsors
  • Sharing our fundraisers online 
  • Researching & writing grants
